Founder and CEO

Lori spent 17 years in technology, coding, designing, and bringing efficiencies to customers at companies like Target, United Health Group, CHRobinson, SPS Commerce, and Jostens.

Her desire to bring hi-tech solutions to amazing medical teams working in developing countries drove her to start Binary Bridge.

Chief Operating Officer

Daisy graduated from UW Madison with a BS in Industrial Engineering and began an 11-year tenure at Starkey Hearing Technologies, culminating in forming and leading the IT PMO. From there, Daisy leveraged her graduate course work in Systems Engineering to lead teams at Fortune 500 retail companies, a health care provider and benefits company, and logistics company as a consultant. In these roles she demonstrated an aptitude for picking up new business models and technologies.

Daisy will drive the BackpackEMR product development in addition to developing core business processes with a focus on scaling.

MUZ AHMED

MUZ AHMED

Tech Lead

Muz is a nomadic software engineer who has made his rounds through big software on the west coast. 

Muz a passionate Canadian, graduated from the Univerisity of Waterloo and then began working in communication software at Google then shortly transition to PHR and EMR software at Microsoft. 

After Microsoft’s EMR was acquired by GE, Muz decided to move to Latin America and began volunteering with Timmy Global Health where he implemented an EMR (TimmyCare) in over 50 sites. 

He returned to big software to work on autonomous vehicles before shifting to mobile development working for himself. He contracted for a few large software apps and then finally transitioned to Snapchat where he runs the monetization client platform based out of LA. 

Now he’s ready to bring his expertise to BackpackEMR!

When he’s not writing code, Muz is an avid climber and mountaineer (though out of practice) and loves to travel!

AARON DESMOND

AARON DESMOND

Board Member

Aaron has more than a decade of experience developing, launching, and growing products and services to address public health challenges. Frontline health care professionals, policy makers, and researchers across the globe rely on these products and services to more effectively address health threats such as Ebola and pandemic influenza. He previously served on the executive team at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), a global leader in addressing public health preparedness and emerging infectious disease response.

Aaron’s experience includes launching an international digital business intelligence service for executives, developing and managing a series of web seminars and national in-person summits, and generating massive organic growth as a pioneering online marketer. 

MACKENZIE O'BRIEN

MACKENZIE O'BRIEN

Public Health Research Intern

Mackenzie is a junior geography at Macalester College studying geography and urban studies. While she’s called Minnesota home for the past three years, she is originally from San Antonio, Texas and spent Fall 2017 traveling across the U.S., Brazil, South Africa, and India.

Prior to interning at BackpackEMR, Mackenzie completed internships at the City of San Antonio GIS Office and The Family Service Association of San Antonio. She is very interested in how public health actors can utilize both technological and human solutions to serve the health needs of communities.

Mackenzie is excited to join the BackpackEMR team and spend her first summer in the Twin Cities.
